Knee Injury Rehabilitation
Cycling on a static bike is an important part of knee rehabilitation after injury or surgery. Safe planned exercise is possible for some  knee pain sufferers. Non weight bearing exercise supervised by a chartered physiotherapist will normally help arthritic knee joints.

At Atlas Solihull Physiotherapy Clinic Birmingham, a static cycle plays an integral part in mobility and strengthening of the knee joint and associated muscles.

By using a turbo trainer the outdoor racing cycle can be transformed into a static cycle which can be used indoors.  Utilising gears on the cycle it is possible to increase the resistance and speed as knee rehabilitation progresses.
Cardiovascular exercise is also employed during the knee rehabilitation cycle workout which makes this equipment a very useful tool in bringing injured patients back to fitness.

By adjusting the seat height on the cycle, flexion of the knee is affected. Improvement in knee flexion can be obtained by progressively lowering the seat height during the rehabilitation programme.

Knee surgery such as ACL reconstruction or knee replacements can benefit from knee rehabilitation using a static cycle.  Atlas physiotherapists suggest early intervention following surgery for the best results.  The quicker the knee joint is mobilised the more successful the outcome.

Atlas have physiotherapy clinics in both Solihull and Tamworth and should you require treatment in Tamworth, you can call the Atlas Pain Relief Centre on 01827 59943
